Personal Blog:: Today is wild as always - 10/6/10

Well I think I need to chill out!  I realize that being a mom is not always an easy thing.  But I defiantly know it's not easy.  Today my daughter decided to put me to the test.  And I think I fail miserably.  She told me things to do like, I was her servant.  And that got me so irritated I wanted to lock her in my closet.  But she is so adorable and I couldn't do it.  Well I decided to tell her to play dress up, which worked cause she loves to play dress up.  And that keep her busy for awhile. Thank goodness.

About Today: How to Exercise in Fall 10/05/10

From Jen Hubley, your About Today Editor
I never want to exercise during the summer. This is sort of a shame, considering that summer is the season in which one generally wears as few clothing as possible, the better to keep from melting into a person-shaped puddle on the sidewalk. Anyway, I'm just glad fall is here, and with it, temperatures conducive to exercising outside.

How to Exercise in Fall
My favorite exercise is sneaky exercise - the kind you don't even realize you're doing. Fall is ideal for this, because you can move around comfortably outside. It's easy to fool yourself into walking a little farther, for example.

Walking in Autumn
Walking is my favorite exercise, because you can people watch as you stroll. This gives you plenty of fodder for conversation with your walking partner.

5 Reasons to Ride a Bike
Or you can go back to your childhood, and rediscover the activities you used to do. Biking is one of those for me. The last time I rode a bike, I'd never seen a child's bike helmet. Clearly, it's been long enough and I should give this sport another try.

Train for Your First 5K
Fall seems like a good time to start new things. If you've never run before, this is the season to give it a shot.

About Today: How to Eat a Pumpkin 10/06/10

From Jen Hubley, your About Today Editor
I tend to think of pumpkins either as purely decorative items, or as a delicious ingredient that mysteriously appears in muffins. The idea that you can actually eat parts of that centerpiece is always shocking to me. (Note: parts you can eat include pumpkins. Parts you can't eat include... probably everything else.)

How to Prepare Fresh Pumpkins for Baking
You can't just take that pumpkin off the table, stuff it in a soup pot and hope for the best, though. Maybe you're rolling your eyes at me when I say that, but that's only because you've never seen me try to make pumpkin soup.

Recipe: Oven-Toasted Pumpkin Seeds
I used to eat pumpkin seeds by the fistful. Unfortunately, this was during pumpkin carving, and before any baking or salting. In my defense, I was five.

25 Favorite Pumpkin Recipes
This is my favorite recipe, among the favorite recipes: pumpkin maple flan.

18 Pumpkin Recipes for Kids
A reader once wrote in to say that, in his opinion, pumpkin pancakes should be used as an international diplomatic relations tool. I totally agree.

Sex and the Snuggie

The Snuggie Sutra

The Snuggie Sutra

Guilty:  I fell victim to “Snuggie Fever” last Christmas.  The box of love caught my eye whilst browsing at the local Bed, Bath and Beyond and I just knew that my older brother had to have a leopard print Snuggie. Because who doesn’t need a blanket with sleeves? (It was either that or another Chia pet, but I think I exhausted those with the Chia Head, Chia Guy, Chia Turtle, and Chia Hillary Clinton.)  The Snuggie, I decided, was my new Chia.

And now, as if Snuggies weren’t cool enough, a new item to add to your Christmas list:  Snuggie Sutra.

The Snuggie Sutra, a newly published book about Snuggies with a sexy twist, is kind of like Kama Sutra, only with your favorite blanket. The illustrated guide highlights a number of erotic sexual positions all to be performed in the comfort of your own sleeved blanket.

Click on to see some of our favorite Snuggie Sutra positions with descriptions of each position from the book.
